ROOMS
Ten quiet and comfortable rooms, all equipped with private bathrooms with shower, air conditionning, ceiling fans and individual thermostats. WI-FI access is available all through the Inn for those who need it.
SITTING ROOM
Adjacent to the large front entrance hall, just a few steps lead to a spacious sitting room with a home-like atmosphere. With its fireplace, bar, piano and comfortable furnishings, this room is the perfect place for before or after-dinner drinks or coffee, or perhaps a chat with friends or some of the other guests.
LIBRARY
Retreat to the library and peruse an atlas or a cookbook, some light reading, maybe play cards or a boardgame, or relax with a television program. Or use it to hold a private meeting behind closed doors.
DINING ROOM
The dining room has a distinctly European flavor, courteous attentive service, subdued background music and fabulous food. However, be warned: it is highly addictive; one meal, and you're hooked!
CUISINE
Hans Christiner does not approve of overly flattering portraits because "they are not real", but his resume is truly impressive. At the age of 17, he became an apprentice at the grand Wilden Mann Hotel in Luzerne (founded in 1517), subsequently worked as sous-chef and chef at many fine kitchens in Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Bermuda, New Zealand and Australia. He has even served a meal to the legendary Paul Bocuse himself, at the Old Swiss House in Luzerne.
The menu at the Joli Vent is changed every week without fail, depending upon the season, best available ingredients and last, but not least, the whim of the chef. The cuisine mainly follows a classic European tradition with an occasional touch of the Far East thrown in just to keep things interesting. The dishes are bold and inventive at times, yet never insolent nor intrusive, due to the chef's classic training and discipline.
And you MUST try Hans Christiner's homemade country-style bread, baked fresh daily.
